Ceviche

This fresh and simple dish is originally from Peru. Its name comes from the word “cebo”, which was used in the 16th century to refer to cheap meals.

Given that it is made of small slices of fruit, vegetables, seafood and fish, many people looked down on it, and it soon became known as ceviche. Who would have thought that it would become one of the best dishes in the world?

Pasta Bolognese

Yes, this simple and delicious recipe also made it on the list. In Italy, this pasta dish accompanied with a mincemeat, tomato, carrot and onion sauce is a classic that has become popular around the world.

The dish was registered by the Italian Academy of Cuisine in the 1980s.

Sushi

This Japanese delicacy could be considered a relic, as it was first prepared in the year 718. Since then, it has become a world favourite. Initially, the dish was fermented, and only rice was used to make the rolls. As the years went by and rice vinegar was invented, the rolls became more elaborate, especially when fish was added to the recipe.

Nowadays each country and region adds its own touch, and there is a great variety of different ingredients including chilli, cheese, melted honey and much more.

Tacos al pastor

A delicious and colourful Mexican dish! This recipe has a notable Lebanese influence, due to the ingredients used, and it is prepared with exquisite thinly-sliced pork meat, or on some occasions, beef.

Before being served, the meat goes through a marinating process with annatto and crushed bell pepper, which is why the meat takes on its characteristic red colour. This dish is served with roasted pineapple, cilantro and spicy sauce.
