Air Europa improves digital health verification system

Validating, at the time of online check-in, the mandatory health documentation, depending on the country of destination, is the new improvement launched by Air Europa with the aim of further strengthening passenger confidence, improving their experience, facilitating their transit through the airport and traveling in a much more comfortable way and without waiting.

Air Europa, which already became the first airline in the world to have the new functionality of the Amadeus Traveler ID platform, has taken another big step forward and now allows passengers to confirm, at check-in on the airline’s website or app, their vaccination certificate, PCR or Antigen results and/or PLF (Passenger Locator Form), depending on the documentation required by the country they are traveling to. In addition, passengers can provide the documentation in the format that is most convenient for them, either digitally, by scanning the QR code, or by sharing a photo of the physical document. Once instantly validated online, the passenger will no longer have to present it again at check-in or boarding, as it is approved in the airline’s own computer system and can be securely referenced throughout the trip.

It should be remembered that it is necessary for the passenger to carry the documentation stored on their device or on paper in case it is required at any other time during the trip.

The use of this new Traveler ID functionality extends to the company’s entire flight network.

“Our greatest commitment is to the safety of our passengers and we are working to improve their flight experience. It is a priority for Air Europa that the customer feels safe and secure when taking a flight. The collaboration and joint work with Amadeus brings significant benefits to our customers who, with this digital solution, achieve greater agility, security, efficiency and comfort,” said Oscar Riolobos, Web Business Manager of Air Europa.

Christian Warneck, VP, Safe Travel Ecosystem, Amadeus, said: “It is a great pleasure to collaborate with Air Europa and to see the benefits of our innovative Traveler ID technology being implemented on all of the company’s routes. Our goal with Safe Travel is to facilitate safer, more comfortable and efficient travel, despite the additional documentation checks. Another benefit we bring, through our partner Riskline, is that each route is analyzed and updated daily with the latest measures, so that passengers are only asked for the documents required for that specific trip. This back-end work facilitates work and time for the airline in today’s changing environment.”
