Arnaldo Aiolfi (Club MED): “This launch is very important to us as we will be returning to Marbella after 20 years”

Head of Product for Southern Europe and Managing Director in Club Med Italia

  • Why did you choose Marbella for the arrival of Club MED in Spain?

The location we are opening in Marbella will be in the same area where we used to run the legendary Don Miguel Resort. We will be opening it again 20 years later.

Marbella is a location that is easy to access, and perfect the whole year round thanks to its pleasant climate.

Magna Marbella Resort will be the ideal destination to discover the wonders of Andalusia, a rich cultural and architectural heritage with an Arabic influence (for example: Plaza de Europa in Seville, the Mezquita in Córdoba, and the Alhambra in Granada).

  • What type of client/profile are you expecting at Club MED Magna Marbella?

We are expecting international clients from around the world: we have an international strategy: “millenial” families, partners and friends, people who want to discover this incredible region, its natural landscapes and picturesque villages perched on rocky hills that look out over endless plains of olive fields.

At just one hour away from Marbella, it is the ideal location for families with children who want to enrich their holidays by discovering everything this magical place has to offer.

  • Club MED Magna Marbella comes in the familiar “all-inclusive” option. Why did you choose this for the resort?

Thanks to our strategy, Club Med is now the world leader in high quality all-inclusive holidays for families and couples to relax and reconnect. In addition, the concept of a daycare centre for children in a resort was invented by Club Med in 1967, which shows just how much we care about children. Club Med, with its pioneering spirit, is a brand that takes care of its customers’ needs.

Magna Marbella (and Club Med in general) with its dynamic environment, focused on family connections, fits perfectly with our objective, which includes our all-inclusive format.

  • What kind of facilities and services are aimed at families?

As I mentioned earlier, families are very important to us. Childcare at Club Med Marbella starts at 3 months and goes up to 17 year olds. The Baby Club (3 months – 2 years, has a warm and cosy atmosphere for the very youngest family members, with a pink flamingo logo), Petit Club (2 – 3 years, focused on local wildlife, around an impressive sculpture of a tree), and the Mini Club (4 – 14 years, designed like an indoor garden that features the key symbols of Andalusia including flamenco, the guitar, El Quijote, Picasso and more) and Club Med Passworld (15 – 17 years, centred around the theme of Spanish national celebrations).

We also have a family swimming pool with slides. We will put shared sleeping quarters nestled in the foliage around the lagoon’s infinite swimming pool for families, so they have the chance to stay together and reconnect.

  • Why should tourists visiting the Costa del Sol choose your resort?

Because of our all-inclusive formula. What better way is there to relax and reconnect after discovering this marvellous region, while trying out a wide range of different sports (like circus skills, tennis, fitness, archery, indoor football, basketball, golf and more, as well as padel).

Enjoying an incredible food and drink experience in our bars and restaurants. In particular, in terms of our range of food, we have the Principal restaurant, which serves international cuisine and Andalusian specialities, and the Gourmet Lounge restaurant, which offers a wide range of food all year round in an atmosphere inspired by the Úbeda region, and is organised in 3 areas (Vino Bodega Delicatessen, Lounge Bar, and restaurant area) to give our guests the chance to try local products and Andalusian delicacies.

  • What is the Club Med work ethic?

Club Med’s values stand out for being unique: we pride ourselves on being friendly, multicultural, with a pioneering and innovative spirit that balances freedom and responsibility.

All our values are well integrated in our all-inclusive formula, and that that what led us to invent the Mini Club for our youngest guests. Another example is that we now offer circus skills as an activity.

Club Med employs over 23,000 people. Experts and highly qualified staff from over 110 different countries.

Our values have made us a world leader in high quality all-inclusive holidays.

  • What is the main difference between Club Med and its competitors?

In terms of the Resort Club Med in Marbella, what makes us stand out from the rest are our 14 hectares of exuberant gardens at the foothills of the Sierra Blanca mountains, a unique location that is highly competitive along the dense urban Marbella coast.

  • What are the next projects or new locations that the group will launch either this year or the next in Spain?

Well, right now we are very focused on this launch, which is very important to us as we will be returning to Marbella after 20 years.

We have many new projects opening all over the world, especially in Europe. In the Iberian Peninsula, we will be opening an eco-resort (as part of our Exclusive Collection) dedicated to families, active couples and friends in the Troia peninsula, in the Comporta region (Portugal).
