BlueBay Hotels, the eighth Spanish hotel company by international presence and the 10th largest hotel group regarding hotel rooms[1], enters in Colombia with the addition of the Hotel Portal del Norte by BlueBay (****). The establishment is located in Armenia, a city in the Golden Triangle of coffee culture and declared an Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2011 by UNESCO. The hotel opened for business in 2017 and has 27 rooms aimed at both tourists and people visiting the area for business reasons.

“With this new addition, we’re strengthening our position in Latin America where we’re now present in four countries: Mexico Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, and Colombia. We hope to continue growing in the area in the future, and we’re also in open talks and negotiating openings in other countries,” explained Jamal Satli Iglesias, Chairman of BlueBay Hotels. The Spanish company experienced exceptional growth in 2017 in the region and added 6 new hotels to the company’s portfolio in Mexico City and another in Oruro in Bolivia.

In 2017, the Spanish hotel chain expressed an interest in expanding its portfolio of hotels in Colombia, especially in the Coffee Triangle area where the Hotel Portal del Norte by BlueBay (****) is located. “During 2017 we were involved in negotiations to add a hotel that meets of different types of guests in Colombia. The Hotel Portal del Norte by BlueBay is the first of many that we’lll add in destinations with high demand in Colombia.” says Ramón Hernández, CEO of BlueBay Hotels.
