BlueBay Hotels, the eleventh Spanish hotel company regarding international presence and the twelfth largest group in terms of hotel rooms, celebrated the BlueBay Travel Awards 2018 gala event last night in Madrid before FITUR begins. The event, now in its fifth year brought together ministers, ambassadors, consuls, sheikhs, governors, senators, deputies and mayors, business partners, colleagues and friends from more than 20 countries at the Casino de Madrid.

On this occasion, BlueBay Hotels has recognised the work of 9 companies in different categories. The award for the “Tourism Personality of 2018” went to Juan Balbuena, the President of Best Day in recognition of his excellent career and leadership in the tourism sector and his social commitment and altruism. The awards were the highlight of the event that finished with a flamenco show.

“2018 was an exceptional year for BlueBay Hotels. We reached record numbers in terms of hotels under management, occupancy rates, and customer satisfaction, which is no mean feat in a competitive and constantly changing industry such as ours. These results have been made possible thanks to your unconditional support for our brands and destinations and the trust you have placed in our business model”, said Jamal Satli Iglesias, Chairman of BlueBay Hotels.

Ramón Hernández, CEO of BlueBay Hotels, also highlighted the fact that “the main objective of this event is to thank all the winners, recognise and reward their loyalty and commitment to our project”. During the event, the CEO of BlueBay Hotels also thanked “the daily work, dedication and vocation of service of all the group’s employees”.

Award-winning companies

Companies who won awards in the different categories included:

Air Canada won the Leading Air Travel Provider award for its performance, cooperation capacity, growth within the highly competitive international market, overcoming the many challenges faced by the air transport community, and providing excellent service quality to passengers.

 Tui Group won the award in the category of Best Performance 2018 for its continuous growth, adapting to challenges, indisputable presence in more than 100 countries and commitment to economic, ecological and social business activity.

 Sidetours won The Best Inbound Travel Agency award for its strength, vast experience, varied portfolio and the ongoing training of its team of professionals.

 Roiback picked up The Leading Provider of Hotel Booking Engine award for its cutting-edge technology, user-friendliness, high conversion, constant anticipation of market demands, rapid implementation and functionality.

 Jet2Holiday received the award in THE BEST TRAVEL SERVICE category for its unrelentless search for the perfect product for its customers, continuous growth, investment in infrastructure and its professionals and its firm commitment to obtain an excellent quality-price ratio.

 Telefónica won the award for the Best Technology Innovation Company for its ability to anticipate the future, explore new technologies, understanding market need and working hard to be the forerunners in the digital world.

 Booking.com received the award for the Best B2C PARTNER, for its constant growth and investment in different markets, variety of service and advanced technology.

 Hotelbeds Group received the award for The Best Wholesale Distribution Platform for its cutting-edge technology, user-friendliness, rapid implementation and functionality.

 Anex Tours was awarded The Best Outbound Travel Agency for its constant growth, its commitment to different destinations and excellence in the organisation of trips and events.
