Iberia and its NGO “Mano a Mano” present an educational project in Guatemala
–     Aula Iberia is part of a schooling project aimed at helping people find jobs that Mano a Mano is developing in collaboration with the Spanish organisation, CONI, and ADECOR in Guatemala.

–     This project also includes the provision of a school kitchen and other recreational areas at the Kaqchikel Beleje Noj Educational Centre.

Iberia and its NGO “Mano a Mano” have unveiled a project in Guatemala that aims to increase the number of students availing of secondary schooling and promote employment among the “Los Tunayes” community in San Martín Jilotepeque.

Iberia and Mano a Mano inaugurated a three-classroom module at the Kaqchikel Beleje Noj Educational Centre, a multifunctional space that will give the “Los Tunayes” community greater access to secondary education in the areas of computing, hospitality and carpentry. The community has about 700 people, and most have very limited access to studies.

It is hoped that with these three new classrooms the Maya Kaqchikel Beleje Noj Educational Centre will pass from 50 to 70 students in 2018 and then 90 in 2019.

IBERIA Aula could become an Agricultural Training School (EFA) in the medium term and provide the only homologated upper secondary school in the region, which would drastically change young people’s opportunities in the region’s communities.
Mano a Mano has funded Aula Iberia with the support of the airline itself, and the project was carried out in collaboration with the Spanish organisation CONI, specialised in education projects in rural Guatemala, and the local association, ADECOR.

The Mano a Mano project at the Kaqchikel Beleje Noj Centre also includes the provision of a school kitchen and other recreational and sports areas that will begin once the necessary funds have been made available.
