Keep up with your wellness routine while travelling

Everyone knows how complicated it is to maintain an active routine and a balanced diet when travelling, especially during those more stressful moments when you’re on the road or in an airport. But you need to be consistent if you want to stay healthy, even when we travel, whether it’s for business or pleasure.

Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to stick to your wellness lifestyle while travelling – it all comes down to having a simple and effective plan. So, if you don’t want to disrupt your healthy lifestyle, follow these tips to help you to stay fit wherever you are:

Pack your trainers and sportswear.

Make sure your sportswear is comfortable as this will help you stay active. These pieces are a must in your travel kit if you want to do some exercise and stay active. You could also pack a resistance band if you’ve got some extra room in your bag. These are great and extremely versatile, you can work on some muscles in your room, regardless of whether or not there’s a gym in the hotel where you’re staying. Make sure to pack vitamins, supplements and some protein shakes if you’re travelling to someplace new and you don’t know where to find healthy food.

Choose a hotel in keeping with your activities

Try to find a hotel that has a gym, even if it’s small and has only a few machines, you’ll be sure to have a place to exercise. If it’s impossible to find a hotel with a fitness area, make sure you know where the closest gym is.

Awaken your creativity and get active!

If you can’t find a gym in or around the hotel, use your resistance band to work on your arms, abdomen and legs. Use the stairs instead of the elevator and run up and down a few flights of stairs. Use your smartphone or tablet to search for some routines on YouTube that you can do in your room.

Sleep like a baby.

Our sleep cycle is often disrupted when we travel, and it’s difficult to get eight hours of uninterrupted sleep. Remember, the number of hours you spend sleeping is not as important as the quality of those hours of sleep. Close the curtains to make the room as dark as possible, put your mobile and tablet on do not disturb or flight mode, move your laptop away from the bed to avoid all distractions, and you’ll sleep like a baby.
