The most original pools in hotels

When it comes to choosing a hotel, there are many factors customers consider. Location and price are naturally important, but there’s another market segment that values other more distinctive services. One clear example is swimming pools in sun and beach locations, and let’s face it, who doesn’t love lounging by the pool?

Here’s a selection of hotels with our favourite pools:

The exclusive Conrad Hotel in Almancil, Portugal is a sanctuary of relaxation, boasting an indoor infinity pool in the Roof Garden Suite with private access to the spa, offering inner peace with a combination of holistic therapies, meditation and relaxation.

Another example is the Roca Nivaria Hotel in the south of the island of Tenerife with its heated saltwater infinity pool flanked by lush Balinese beds. Children will have the time of their lives with the hotel mascot, Roni, and the mini-club.

W Barcelona is located right by the beach and popularly known as the Hotel Vela (Sail Hotel) due to its shape. The hotel boasts an incredible infinity pool on the roof terrace with fantastic sea views. The ‘Bliss Spa’ is the perfect compliment to the pool, offering a huge range of relaxing facial and body treatments. As an added bonus, Hotel Vela is also a P.A.W (pets are welcome) hotel.

Another stunning hotel in the Catalan capital is the Mandarin Oriental that was created as an oasis in the midst of a city. Observe the tourists coming and going from Gaudi’s Casa Milà from the outdoor pool on the 9th floor, or try out the 12m indoor lap pool at the hotel’s SPA.

Playacálida Spa Hotel is in Almuñécar, Granada and comes with a theme pool in the shape of a river with slides, a 1000m2 infinity pool and solarium surrounded by palm trees. The hotel also has several jacuzzis with spectacular sea views.

If you’re after something a bit more lively, Meliá Sol Wave House in Majorca is the place to be. Pools are always great fun, but let’s be honest, we all miss the waves. The hotel spotted an opening with the large numbers of young people visiting the island and created two unique areas: Flow Barrel Ten is a huge three metre high high-speed barrel wave and the Double Flow Rider non-stop surf simulator.

In the capital, and making use of the saying “De Madrid al cielo” (from Madrid to Heaven), there’s the large outdoor pool on the 10th floor of the Emperador Hotel on Gran Via with its spectacular views of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
