The best scooters for getting around the city

Traffic jams and parking are increasingly more and more of a problem in today’s cities and the rapid increase in paid parking areas and car parks don’t do much to help the situation. Cars have become an indispensable part of our everyday life although more and more people are now choosing scooters when it comes to getting around in the city. The savings on petrol, time and hassle are all reasons that lead to us choose this means of transport as the perfect alternative, especially in places where it doesn’t rain a lot.

Due to the crisis, sales in scooters have soared in recent years, while nowadays the market is relatively stable. Convenience and the fact that they cost about €100 a month to run are two reasons in their favour.

While everyone has their own preferences, here at Lookout-pro, we’ve selected a few of our favourites.

First up is the Yamaha X-Max 125, a model that stands out for its under seat storage space, sporty look and anti-lock braking system.

Another model that’s caught our eye is the Kymco SuperDink 125, a comfortable scooter to ride, great value for money, and it has extra space under the seat with room for two helmets.

One of the biggest selling scooters in the same range is the Honda PCX 125, an extremely practical scooter that features a fuel-saving idle stop system.

If you are looking for something with plenty of luggage space but that’s also light and compact to ride, it’s worth taking a look at the Suzuki UH 125 BURGMAN with its linked front & rear hydraulic disc brakes and sporty finish.

The LIBERTY 125 RST is another favourite, a high-wheeled elegant looking scooter that’s proving to be extremely popular with the ladies.

Honda’s SH 125 Scoopy large 16-inch wheels really stand out along with it being a comfortable ride, electronic fuel injection and its four-stroke engine.

And you’re in luck if you’re after more cylinder capacity as there’s been an explosion in the market in this sector in 2017.

The BMW G310R model is one of the big ones in this area with modest features, and a single cylinder 34cv engine that’s fun to ride with incredible aesthetics and finishes.

And last but definitely not least, the Ducati Scrambler Sixty2, a two-cylinder engine with almost no vibrations that’s fun and easy to ride, and a great entry level scooter to learn and improve on the road, although the price is somewhat higher than others with the same features.
