The most exclusive spas in Spain

Work, routine and getting up early. Our daily lives catch up with us, and from time to time our body screams for an overhaul. If you’re thinking about treating yourself and going to a spa to recharge your batteries, keep reading.

Luxury spas are a whole lot more than just baths and massages. In these earthly paradises, you’ll find a full array of services to get you back feeling in tip-top shape. In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the most exclusive spots in Spain.

“A retreat of peace, serenity and energy” is how the Gran Hotel del Duque in Tenerife describes its spa services surrounded by aromatic gardens, which carefully combine the relaxing power of the sea water, the sun, and the volcanic sand to create a sensory extravaganza in a unique location.

The thalassotherapy circuit is sure to awaken all your senses as you begin to enjoy the outdoor Vitality Pool, with its hydro massage jets, bubble beds and the chance to enjoy a chromotherapy session at sunset.

They are complemented by a Hamman, Saunas, Scottish Showers, an Outdoor Solarium and Hammocks.

If you’re after privacy in addition to peace and tranquillity, then this is the place for you. The Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque also offers individual and double private suites with their subtle aromas, carefully chosen textures and overhead lighting to put you in the purest state of serenity to enjoy a range of suggestive treatments.

The Fitness Centre and Beauty Salon complete the facilities and make it that bit more difficult to leave…

Another of our favourites is in Soria. The Hotel Termal Burgo de Osma is located in an impressive Renaissance courtyard with thermal mineral-medicinal baths that are ideal for anti-stress treatments, rheumatic conditions and slimming due to the sedative, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of the water.

The thermal pool boasts several jacuzzis, hydro-massage beds and chairs, a serial line of relaxing and decontracting water jets, curtains, and cannons.

The treatment area provides endless options with relaxing massages, aesthetics, facials, peelings and body and facial wraps. The spa also offers different thermal experiences lasting between 1 and 3 hours depending on the ritual chosen.

Our next spa is in the glamorous city of Marbella. Hidden behind the gardens of the Villa Padierna Palace Hotel *****, we have one of Europe’s largest spas (2000m2) with private thermal baths, a complete wellness circuit, a team of highly-qualified professionals, state-of-the-art equipment, steam baths, saunas…

Then in Madrid, we have the Termas de Griñon with 3200m2 of ozonised spaces. Besides the many health and beauty treatments, the spa also has pools that reproduce the conditions in the Indian Ocean and the Cantabrian, Mediterranean, and Dead Sea, as well as infrared beds and Finnish saunas.

Another of the best-equipped spas is located in Asturias. Las Caldas Villa Termal opened its doors for the first time in 1776 and received a complete makeover in 2003. Today, it boasts “an innovative concept” combining health, sport and wellness.

Along side the spa services, it offers healthy lifestyle options such as detox, fitness, slimming, anti-stress, anti-smoking, and sleep recovery programmes.

All the programmes are personalised using the spa’s own methodology called the ‘Laurbaer Method’, which is based on five fundamental pillars: healthy eating, hydro therapy, bioenergetic treatments, emotional management and physical activity.

To finish up, we have the SHA Wellness Clinic in Alicante, which has natural therapies, medical innovation and healthy nutrition as the key points to its ‘SHA method’. In the wellness area, there are multiple body and facial treatments, hydrotherapy treatments and body and mind disciplines. Traditional and oriental massages complete the offer at the impressive 6000m2 facilities on the shores of the Mediterranean.
