Wellness Tourism

Wellness tourism is trending and has grown by 6.8% in recent years, which is 50% faster than conventional tourism. Adopting healthy habits and doing regular physical activity are no longer considered superfluous, in fact, it’s the opposite, they’re seen as essential, even when you’re enjoying some time off.

More and more people are now looking for holiday destinations where they can reduce stress levels and take care of their health. The Wellness Travel study published in Europe documented/stated, “for decades, the concept of holidays has been associated with excess: lots of food, lots of booze, little sleep, leaving many travellers much less healthy at the end of your trip. However, in recent years an increasing number of people are choosing to holiday destinations to help them stay healthy or heal while travelling, and a smaller segment, although growing, is making trips with the specific purpose of improving their personal wellness”.

We’re sharing the three healthiest European destinations:

Budapest, Hungary. Known as the Pearl of the Danube, it boasts an impressive historical and cultural heritage. However, it’s also known as the International Spa City with no fewer than 118 natural and made-made springs, the largest number in any destination in the world.

Leukerbad, Switzerland. Located in the Rhone Valley in the Alps, it’s the perfect combination of mountains, glaciers, and thermal springs. It has 65 thermal baths with water temperatures of about 50º C. Minerals in the water provide relief from different ailments, clean impurities, reactivate circulation and aid recovery from muscle contractions.
