World Heritage Day
UNESCO’s World Heritage Day is celebrated every year on April 18th. And Fujairah is no exception with the Fujairah Tourism & Antiquities Authority organising a huge party to celebrates the rich, historical heritage of the United Arab Emirates.
The different events usually take place at the foot of Fujairah Fort and include dance groups, food stalls selling traditional food, music and an extensive cultural programme. This celebration of local heritage aims to revive and activate the area’s authentic heritage and consolidate it in the memory of future generations. What better opportunity to visit Fujairah?
Maktoum Championship
The Maktoum Championship is an annual event held during Ramadan (this year from May 5 to June 4) with athletes from a wide range of sports participating. The competition includes sports such as football, chess, taekwondo, swimming and interactive games, and aims to promote the growth of the community and discover new sporting talent. This is an event you won’t want to miss if your a sports fan and are in Fujairah at this time of year.
Al Saif Sword Championship
Fujairah is committed to keeping the local heritage alive and has turned the ancient art of Al Mzafin (sword dancing) into a modern championship.
This event is a unique opportunity to discover the art of Al Mzafin in a beautiful family atmosphere full of cultural activities, where you can learn more about the identity of the Emirates and the long-standing customs and traditions.
Fujairah International Monodrama Festival
Fujairah International Monodrama Festival is a prestigious gathering and celebration of the theatrical arts held in the Emirate of Fujairah once every two years. The festival is organised by the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority and aims to establish the presence of Monodrama in the Arabic theatre in general and the Emirati theatre in particular, and contribute to the progress and development of this theatrical genre. It also aims to support young and talented artists who can contribute to its growth.
Fujairah OffShore Fishing Tournament
The Fujairah International Marine Club sponsors the Annual Off Shore Fishing Tournament that attracts world-class anglers to the Fujairah’s crystal clear waters. The tournament is a spectacle worth admiring for fishing lovers, amateurs and onlookers alike.
Dibba Run 10km, 5km & 3km
An event for runners who want to do a short race along Dibba beach in the Emirate of Fujairah with three distances available: 10km, 5km or 3km. A fun and healthy way to spend a day in the area.
Fujairah Sprint Triathlon
This year sees the first edition of the Fujairah Sprint Triathlon which will take place next to the Fujairah Cornice. The race begins with a 0.75km swim, followed by a 20km cycle and ending with a 5km run that will take participants through the beautiful scenery that Fujairah has to offer. There will also be a Kids Aquathon with three different categories
- From 4 to 7 years: 50m Swim + 500m Run.
- From 8 to 11 years: 75m Swim + 1km Run.
- From 12 to 15 years: 100m Swim + 2km Run.
