Holiday Shopping Tourism

The time comes once again for lights, colours, meetings among friends and … shopping. Buying presents for our nearest and dearest is always where we spend the most time. So, why not take a break during the holidays and while we’re at it, buy the most original present? Let’s take a look at some dream destinations for gift hunters!

In Europe, there are very few places like London to get that Christmas feeling and spend our cash like there’s no tomorrow. The capital is home to the world-famous Harrods department store that is synonymous with Christmas. With 330 departments it’s impossible not to find the perfect present, from the most gourmet luxury biscuits at €600 a box to the run-of-the-mill pyjamas with Christmas themes. Covent Garden is another spot worth a visit with one of the largest Christmas trees, live reindeer and street artists defying the bitter cold to entertain Christmas shoppers. As for shops, there are plenty of big brands, including Apple and Whistles.

A second highlight in Europe is Germany, the country with the most Christmas markets in the world turns into a fairytale destination with the arrival of Christmas. Cologne, Nurenberg and Dresden really stand out for their great atmosphere and activity at this time of year.

Another destination to keep in mind is Dubai, and although it’s not a Christian country, it takes the Christmas spirit quite seriously and even has the largest Christmas tree in the world, which is valued at €11.5M in one of its shopping centres. Thanks to its passion for luxury goods and huge shopping centres it’s another firm favourite on the list.

And of course, we can’t leave out New York, where shop fronts compete to see which one has the best decorations and sculptures and the city is full of shows, ballets and musicals offering the typical Hollywood representations.

Choose your ideal destination! Wrap up well and stuff your pockets full of cash. You’re going to need it all to dive right into the Christmas shopping spirit!
