Running tourism is gaining popularity: the top 10 marathons to combine sport with travel

Marathon and half-marathon tourism has gained considerable popularity in recent years. Increasing numbers of Spanish tourists are signing up to different organised running competitions, held in the largest cities in Europe and across the world.

With this in mind, Lookout Pro has selected the biggest marathons that runners can still sign up to in the second half of the year:

Midnight Sun Marathon, Tromsø, Norway

The Midnight Sun Marathon is set to hold its 30th edition in Tromsø, Norway. Thousands of runners from all around the world are due to run across the Arctic and the lands of the midnight sun. The event comprises races of 42km, a half-marathon and a 10k run. Children can also participate in an 800m competition.

Patagonian International Marathon, Chile

The Patagonian International Marathon is held in the Última Esperanza province of Chilean Patagonia, within the Torres del Paine National Park.
