Ten things Spaniards have on their bucket list
  • Gaze at the Northern Lights, visit the Grand Canyon, and see the Egyptian pyramids are the top three in the Spaniard’s rankings

  • 65% have already started crossing experiences of their bucket list, and one in every five (20%) said that although financially speaking they could complete their wish list right now, what’s holding them back is the lack of time

lastminute.com has conducted a study to discover the Spanish people’s bucket list, or in other words, the things they would love to do before dying. And the great news is that it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg to fulfil our dreams. In fact, if you were to complete the top five on the list it would cost a little more than €3500*. According to the study, most Spaniards (46%) put seeing the Northern Lights at number one; this was followed by visiting the Grand Canyon (41%) and seeing the Egyptian pyramids (37%).

Ten things Spaniards would like to cross off their bucket list:

  1.         See the Northern Lights (46%)
  2.         Visit the Grand Canyon (41%)
  3.         Visit the Pyramids of Egypt (37%)
  4.         Visit Venice (35%)
  5.         Walk along the Great Wall of China (34%)
  6.         Visit the Maldives (30%)
  7.         Visit the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World (30%)
  8.         Visit all seven continents (29%)
  9.         Learn a new language (29%)
  10.       Swim with dolphins (28%)

65% of Spanish people have already started crossing things off their list. However, there are also some romantic souls out there who prefer to wait until the meet the right person before starting to fulfil their dreams (36%). And then, 20% of those involved in the study say that although financially they could afford to do everything on their list right now, it’s just not feasible at the moment because they have no time.

A spokesman for lastminute.com said: “The great thing about creating a list of things to do is that it pushes people to dream and think big, but at some stage we have to take the plunge and start ticking things off our list to make sure that what’s left over doesn’t end up being a pipe dream. Experiences, like flying in a helicopter or seeing the Northern Lights are now more accessible to a greater number of people than ever before, so there’s nothing to stop our future travellers from making their dreams come true.”
