The best motorbikes for travelling with your better half

Nearly all of us love to travel, but some prefer to do it on two wheels. The world of motorcycle enthusiasts is vast and diverse, and many of them are now choosing to head off on an adventure with their loved ones. Are you up for it?

First of all, you need to know a little about the general characteristics of this type of vehicle.  Touring bikes are big, comfortable and great for travelling with a co-pilot. They have a powerful engine and plenty of space for carrying luggage and are also perfect for relaxed riding, which is something that’s much appreciated on long journeys.

The BMW K 1600 LT is one of these tourers and comes with an abundance of safety features, a 6-cylinder engine and comfortable handling without losing the sense of freedom when you’re on the wide open road.

Another option is the Ducati Multistrada Touring with its impeccable design, power and comfortable driving at high speeds, and it has two side cases with a total capacity of 58 litres.

Next up is the Suzuki Boulevard M1019RN, a high-performance machine with a 1800cc engine that’s extremely stable, making it ideal for two people.

The Triumph Rocket III Touring stands out from the rest for its large size and immense 2.3 litre engine with a capacity of 2294cc. This is a beast that roars on the road so expect some head to turn.

The three-wheeled Can-Am Spyder RT is very stable on the road although driving, or riding, it requires physical handling as you can’t drive it like a normal motorbike and have to use your body as a point of support on stretches of road with lots of curves.

And of course the Harley-Davidson has to be here, the Electra Glide Ultra boasts a voice control and tactile navigation support system. This one has the just 83 horsepower but proves to be more than plenty for cruising speeds within the legal limits.

Another “must” on the list is the so-called “Queen of the Road”, the Honda Goldwing with 150 litres of load-carrying capacity, surround sound audio, iPod dock, and ABS braking with an airbag.

And last but by no means least, the Kawasaki 1400 GTR  has a 160 horsepower engine with very low fuel consumption. The driving position is quite comfortable, and it has two side cases, each one with a capacity of 35 litres. It’s quite a sporty model and great to ride on roads with a lot of curves.
