Warm and sunny destinations to travel in winter

Winter is a somewhat bitter time of the year for those of us who are especially sensitive to cold weather. Here, we bring you three travel alternatives to turn your back on cold temperatures by visiting sunnier shores where you can enjoy beautiful beaches, summer temperatures and plenty of sunshine.

Coastlines full of wild vegetation, long days, and being able to leave your winter woollies at home are just some of the advantages these destinations have to offer so you can enjoy your winter holidays.

COSTA RICA

One of the happiest countries in the world, Costa Rica boasts average temperatures above 25 degrees at this time of year. This central American country has two distinct seasons: the dry season runs from December to April, which is the ideal time to visit Costa Rica, while the wet season lasts the rest of the year.

Holidaymakers can get a sense of the locals’ good-natured lifestyle and discover the marvels of the Costa Rican jungle in this paradise located between the Pacific and the Caribbean Sea, which is home to 4% of the animal and plant species known to mankind. And there are plenty of places to rent kayaks and enjoy the beautiful volcanic lakes.

Adventurers can also enjoy one of the many jewels this country has to offer like the Tortuguero National Park, an area protected for its biological diversity with different habitats and a nesting site for endangered sea turtles.

THAILAND

If you prefer the tropical climate in Southeast Asia, Thailand is an ideal destination, showing many facets of the same culture that mixes modern-day architecture with traditional life and an incredible immensity of nature.

Thailand gathers up dozens of cultures in one.

Bangkok is a ‘must’, of course, but you should also check out the Surin Islands -an archipelago of five islands. You can spend the night on the beach and snorkel off its shores while discovering some of the incredible wonders of nature found at the bottom of the Andaman Sea.

PERU

It’s safe to say that Peru is a country of contrasts, given the differences in altitude between the places of interest. Still, the temperature is quite pleasant with average daily temperature in winter of above 20 degrees. The lowest temperatures are experienced during trekking routes in Vincunca. In Lima, however, you can enjoy a summer vibe in winter in this easy-going and pleasant city. The Uros (floating) Islands are also an absolute must, and if you’re feeling brave, you can dive into the world’s highest navigable lake.
