Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport celebrates Environment Day with a themed exhibition

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport is currently celebrating Environment Day, which takes place today, 5 June, with the installation of a thematic exhibition that deals with the commitment of the Airport and Aena to sustainability and the environment through the different actions carried out at the facilities. The exhibition, which will be on display until 15 June, is located in the exhibition hallway of Terminal T2, which connects this terminal with the Metro.

By means of different posters, the exhibition shows users and passengers the wide range of environmental actions carried out at the facilities. From environmental management and quality control to the use of clean energy (with the installation of solar plants and a fleet of electric vehicles), efficient consumption, waste, water and air management, environmental monitoring and dissemination, to the preservation of biodiversity and the use of falconry, the care of green areas and the implementation of new technologies and innovation in environmental tasks.

During this month the Airport will also carry out other activities with the aim of raising awareness among employees, airlines, handling agents, and the general public about the importance of respect and care for the environment. Thus, a visit will be made for employees to certain areas of the Airport that are not usually accessed, related to environmental management, to get to know specific points such as the air quality stations, the hydrocarbon separator plants or the falconry.

Also aimed at employees, a “word search” competition has been organized to test their environmental knowledge. As for companies and handling agents, the airport has organized a conference in which the different companies will be able to share the initiatives and activities that are being carried out at AS Madrid-Barajas Airport in terms of sustainability and the environment.

Finally, at the end of the month, the Open Days will be held, aimed at the general public, where adults and children will be able to get to know the Aircraft and the Expoambiente Room at the Airport, as well as participate in themed workshops. In addition to this action, environmental videos will be shown on different screens around the airport.
